Coleman Center Garden

It’s so important to me to make art that has an impact, in this case a direct one, on the community in which you live.  I appreciate art whose impact is as simple as making someone who wouldn’t usually go out of their way to look at a painting take pause when they see what [...]

Interesting Art Project Has Unintended Implications

I came across this cool sticker project by Evan Roth, of the famous F.A.T. (Free Art and Technology) group, where he put stickers that said “Available for Free on the Internet” on software, music and movies on store shelves as part of his upcoming “Available Online For Free” show and book release. For the first [...]

This by far has to be the sweetest project ever!

Those awesome peeps at Imrpov Everywhere have recently performed a pretty awesome stunt in the New York subway. The lined up along the escallator leading out of the subway at 8:30 in the morning holding signs that when read together say “Rob wants to give you a high five, get ready!” This could have easily [...]

Paris, The Art: Musée d’Art Contemporain Val-de-Marne (Mac-Val)

The Mac-Val museum (more formerly known as the Musée d’Art Contemporain Val-de-Marne) when it opened in November 2005, was (and to a degree still is) the only contemporary art museum in the Paris area. The Pompidou Center in Paris is often mistaken as a contemporary museum; however, its primary focus is on art of [...]

Light Graffiti in Auburn

Last night, a few of the Artkamp regulars took to the outside with computer equipment to visually vandalize Biggin Hall. Of course, it was not true vandalism, but part of a new trend in electronic graffiti called ‘L.A.S.E.R Tag’.
More pictures of the event can be found here.
Stay tuned, as we’ll be doing this more often [...]

Scent Art by Hilda Kozári

Hilda Kozári has recreated the smell of three cities, Helsinki, Paris, and Budapest (the good and the bad) in collaboration with  Bertrand Duchaufour.
I have to admit, as much as I’d like to smell it, the bubbles make me pretty happy too.  I’m fascinated by artists who seek to recreate experiences, and I can only imagine how affecting [...]

The Foundation of Electric Art

Some of you have been wondering how to create art that incorporates lights, sounds, and movement (i.e. electronics). One of the most crucial tools to get this done is to have mad skillz in electronic circuits and chip programming. It is not the easiest thing in the world and takes time to learn (having a [...]
